Orane
Orane Cockett was born on the island of Jamaica, raised in the parish of Clarendon with his brother Romaine. Orane comes from a musical family (his mother’s side, from Manchester, Jamaica), hence his love for music and song. At a young age Orane and three school friends formed a group and started practicing together and singing at functions, performing soulful music and gospel. And back in his community in the evenings Orane would sing, practice and write songs with his two best friends…and he hasn’t stopped since.
Orane was brought up by his mother while his father worked overseas in the Turks & Caicos Islands (TCI). When he was old enough, his mom moved to TCI to be with her husband. A couple of years later, shortly after graduating from high school, Orane left Jamaica to join his parents and brother. It was there he met E-Swann who bought him into the music scene of the TCI. Their love for music brought them together and Blakout Crew (BOC) was born. In the early days of BOC Orane would take his brother along to the studio. Romaine’s talent was recognized and he too became part of the group, proving that he also inherited a passion for music.
As the singer of the group Orane has been christened “Singa” by members of the BOC family. He is best known for early BOC hits “Thoroughbred” and “Model Chick”, and the more recent international hit “Greenlight”.
